Tomato Sandwich for Dinner

Still have some fresh garden tomatoes from my sweet neighbor. He is gone on his trip for a week. Will check his garden for him tomorrow, as he asked me to do. I like just mayo, salt and a little bit of black pepper on my sandwich. Sometimes I leave the pepper off. And a few of the Ruffles wavy chips on the side. Often only a kosher pickle instead of the chips. Love these fresh tomato sandwiches. Nothing in the grocery stores compares to a fresh garden tomato. They have such a better taste.

I like to bake bread in my bread machine in the winter. Good stuff. But for tomato sandwiches I like plain while bread.

I agree with you, nothing we purchase in a store can compare to home grown. My hubby had a red pepper that we grew with his supper tonight, he loved it. It was almost seedless, so easy to cut up and get ready for him.

Sounds great. I love the red peppers if they are not hot. Fresh veggies are so good and healthy.

I don't think I've ever had just a tomato sandwich. I love putting tomatoes on just about all my other sandwiches I make, but I've never tried it with nothing but tomato. But given how much I love tomatoes, I would probably love a sandwich like that.

@CarolDM I'll have to try a tomato sandwich in the near future. Most of the time, I just eat the tomato directly without anything else added (well, maybe a little salt). Like you said, when they're that good, you don't need anything else.
