A Kid

A kid like Jake. Spoiler alert. Jim Parsons you might know from the big bang theory television show is a father. Of Jake. And he is a therapist. His character reminds me of the television show he was in. He was the smart geek apartment owner who made all the rules. Do you think little boys should be allowed to be little girls?

My son used to watch that show. We tried one episode and realized it wasn't for us.

It was kind of crazy and meant to be that way. Not sure if you would like the movie "A kid like Jake" or not but I thought it was a good one.

In the movie "a kid like Jake" a little boy likes playing with girl things more than boy things.

I believe that children should be encouraged to be themselves, whatever they feel like being. If a boy likes to play with dolls, grow his hair long, wear dresses and do the things we adults associate with girls, he should be allowed to do so. If a girl is interested in cars and construction kits, likes to have her hair short and dress like a boy, what harm is there in it? Very often it's only a phase - a time when they are finding out why there is a difference between boys and girls. Less often, perhaps, it is because they feel deep down that that is who they are. If that is the case, then that is the way they are made and who can gainsay God's wisdom in making them that way? What is important is that a child should be given the freedom to be whatever they feel they are.

The movie a kid like Jake was made in 2018 but it was new to me. I watched it for the first time last night. I thought it was a very good movie, entertaining and thought provocative at the same time. At a preschool birthday party Jake was called a "flag" by another little kid and ran into his bedroom to his safety zone. I think his parents specially his dad was really concerned on how the rest of the world would perceive him. He just didn't want him to get hurt. I liked Jim Parson's in the big bang theory, he is gay by the way though why should that matter? His characters in both parts are quietly reserved? Not sure how to describe Jim but his mannerisms while acting reflected on his passive approach to his son in the movie. Just because you, I or the character in a movie can feel a certain way towards children that are different doesn't mean the rest of the world does. Even at a really early age another child at the party had already developed biased name calling. The picture isn't from the movie. It is a picture of a real person taken a while back. Her name is Jazz.

It was really funny. The television series revolved around an apartment building where the cast lived. It was about their life as scientists and social behaviors. The boys were very smart when it came to technology but so dumb when it came girls. It was a series which started out silly enough but got even more silly as it developed. Each boy became engaged with a girl one who lived next door in the building, a co-worker who I read is actually a genius in real life and another I can't remember now where she came from. Oh, and one of the boys was from India I think, an odd person out but added humor to the growing cast. The series ended a while back. It was called big bang after the scientific theory of how the universe was created.

My parents never got me a doll. My dad didn't believe in girls toys or boys toys or women's/men's work. But I found things to wrap in a blanket and have a "baby" Finally they got me a doll.

Children are just children. Wasn't childhood great! I bet your imagination got a workout more with the thing in the blanket than with the actual doll. I remember doing that kind of stuff too. If I didn't have a toy I would make one.
