Along with the 40-year-old songs I’m celebrating songs that are half a century old this year. This will make some people feel old (“Wow, that song is that old? I bought it when it came out!”), and it make shock some to realize that songs that they sing along with on the radio were recorded before they were even born! Here’s the first song on the 1970 list. Here we have a smoky midtempo song from Oklahoma’s J.J. Cale (no relation to our JJ) that got kicked into overdrive when Eric Clapton covered it on his first solo album.
