Do you use your public library? The library might be the most underused resource in your community. I use mine at least once a week. Our library has infinite resources for everything you do in your life. Need a recipe for something your grandma used to make, want to learn about computers, trying to start a new career, or just want to watch a movie but don't want to pay the price at the local video store? Try the library.

I haven't been to the public library since I was at school, I would rather buy a book and read it at my leisure, and as for doing any research I just use the internet if I need to know anything :)

That is a common response and I am surprised I haven't had more of them. I was that way for a while. I rediscovered the library and now I love it.

Our family uses the public library a lot. We can check out books, movies, get on the net and in the spring get help with our income tax returns for free. I usually go there and hang out when I pick my daughter up from school. We have about 35 minutes to kill between the time I pick her up and the time I pick my son up so we go there and read. She is only seven and she adores reading. I'm so glad!

That is great 7 years old and loves to read. The quest for knowledge is one of the greatest attributes one can have. The fact that you actualy have the time and have chosen to use it for that quest tells me that you will raise intelligent children.

I don't use the public library, but my daughter goes at least once a week. She loves to read and it is within walking distance. She meets friends there and they hang out together. Great, safe place for kids & teens!!

It is a wonderful safe place for kids & teens. They can't help but learn something while they are there. I encourage everyone to at least go and check out their local library. Here in western PA our libraries offer so much that I don't understand why everyone doesn't use it. I get movies and books, the movies cost $1 apiece for a week and they actually have some fairly new ones. It is a great source of information.

I use the public library a lot.
I love their inter-library loan program. I can utilize it from the internet and even check online to see if anything arrive.
They do call to tell you too.
We have a really good library system in this area.

Our library sytem is good also. I live in a small city in PA, and suprisingly it has a great library. I moved here from a major city, where I never knew what the library actually had to offer. I had only used when I was in school many years ago. The online capabilities are great, we usually check the new arrivals in both books and videos before we go. I am there at least oonce a week. My biggest problem is I tend to get too much at one time and can't finish it all in time.

I try to use the Libray at least 2 or 3 times a month. I call it the best kept secret in town. Need some information and don't feel like running out and buying the book, borrow it for a couple weeks, and where else can you rent a dvd for $1.00 and have it for a week. I think that Public libraries are underused and underfunded, and alot more people need to get out and support there local public libraries.

when my husband and i just moved here, the library was my sanctuary. too many things there to keep me from boredom - books, magazines, newpapers, videos, and on top of it all, free internet access an hour a day! not only that, the book sale is cool! there's even a shelf there for give-away books and magazines. people who haven't discovered the lib benefits are losing a great deal :)

I agree with you. I have sort of made it a mission to educate people about the library. I encourage people to use it and help support it. If someone mentions needing to know something, or wanting to learn I usually suggest the library. I have even offered to go with people to help them.

I love the library and I'm fortunate to have a wonderful one right here in our neighborhood. Not only do they have many great books and resources available there, but if we want a rare publication that another library has, they will borrow it on our behalf so we can check it out.

I live very far out in a very rual area. There are no libraries or shopping close by. I use my internet for everything. It can do lots as well. I find great receipes, careers, and even more. But, I'm glad that you can use the library and are happy with it.

I agree with you. My daughter, who lives near Minneapolis, says she just discovered that their library has passes for zoos and museums and other things like that that you can check out. Our local library has educational toys for loan to parents, and cozy places to read with kids. My grandson's favorite treat is to go to the library with grandma. I may look into a language course in foreign language that the library has. I love Libraries.

I think that it is great that parents and grandparents expose children to the library. The resources available are invaluable. Children today are so immersed in video games and television that they overlook things and don't appreciate the education resources available. We too love the libraries.

Do your kids enjoy it? My girlfriends daughter really does? She is 13 and into Anime and Manga and our local library has really started to get books in that category. They have recently added a young adults section with all kinds of books and magazines that are just targeted at teens and young adults. I think it is great. Young people don't seem to appreciate the knowledge that is available, basically for free, to them.

I actually work at the library.
I hate it when people say that we shouldn't have to pay for a place where we get "free entertainment" or is "just for kids and I don't want to pay for it because I don't have kids". If we didn't have a library, it would be a great loss for everyone!
