Door To The Past

Door To The Past

Kolkata, the city of joy is a vibrant city of nostalgic colorful doors, windows, old palaces and temples as well. It feels like holi (festival of colors) in the buildings. Photographers come from all over the world just to capture the essence of street lives of Kolkata. Kolkata has become an enchanting place for the street photographers. And also the street foods here are awesome which I can't describe in words. You can see the struggle of the street people here. It's a place for vibrant daily life. There are many famous ancient temples, ganges ghats where you can witness the daily struggle in the watery streams. But besides those people here are really friendly. You can capture them and they won't charge you or accuse you for that. I'm not a street lover. But I love photography. I just love the ancient buildings, doors, sunsets in the Ganges ghats and the daily struggles of the hard working people. I took this photo last year when I was at the Kumartuli where idols were made. During Durga Puja as I was crossing by a narrow street suddenly I saw that nostalgic door which lured me to capture this. Kolkata, India

Nice pics. Color effects are pretty good. Contrast and saturation? Well more of contrast adjustment.Just my noob guess. Well about the meaning of the pic, I have come in a situation where I can not take things easily. Using the words beautiful is not always what exactly I mean. I see this old door, it is pretty nostalgic and even I remember we used to have this type of doors in our old house. But now I see it, I think like what is on the other side of the door? What it feels like to be on the other side of this door? Is this a home where you are going to see two old people just leaving with their memories and holding it? Or is their a killer living inside this door who is planning for his next murder? or is the house is empty and rats are wandering around? I am not sane any more I guess.

@RoshniMahasweta As I always say, people can not see simple things simply anymore without making it complex. Guess I am just like them. I can not even see things straight, this type of things always creates a lot of questions inside my head.

I feel same too yaar. Whenever I see this kind of old doors, windows or buildings, I also think that. Is there any ghost or what's the story behind these doors and walls? Hehe..it seems pretty interesting to me

Rasogulla gives Kolkata a distinct identity, Goddess Kali has its own integral place. I have never been to Kolkata but I have a great desire to go, Howrah Bridge also has no comparison.
