I hope all this goes away with the coming elections and 2021 gets on on track for better and greater living.

At least in the United States, some people believe that this covid thing is about the presidential election...

@anniepa I don't know why people think so. I am not in agreement with what they think. And people think that rioting, looting, protesting, etc. is about the election as well.

@anniepa It's complicated. The virus is real and people do die from it. But there is a lot of misinformation put out with no purpose other than to cause fear and keep the country stirred up about it. What's true, what's not true? Powerful forces at work.

There's a lot of things that happen in this world that we can't control, so I guess there's no real easy answer to whether 2021 will be better than 2020. But there is one thing we can control, and that is our attitude and how we react to the things that go on around us. We may not be able to change how we reacted to most of the crap that has happened this year, but we can use it as a learning experience to help us weather the storm better in 2021 and have a better attitude about the lemons that life throws at us.

@lovebuglena I'm not so sure 2021 is going to be much different than 2020. Maybe a little better, but this virus is not going away anytime soon. They keep saying a vaccine will be available soon, but it's still going to take a year to roll it out and get everyone vaccinated. So I still think we'll be dealing with this pandemic in 2021.

@moffittjc Would you take that vaccine? I wouldn't. I never take a flu shot.

I don't think anyone anticipated something like covid to hit us and the rest of the world, or that it will lead to other stuff like looting, rioting, mass killings, etc. And we probably could've handled everything better. It definitely tested all of us in different ways. And we lost a lot of people. Also, people think that they can go back to a normal life and are starting to go out a lot and get together with people in not small numbers, which is the dumbest thing ever, especially since cases are rising. Life in 2021 will not be back as it was before the pandemic but hopefully it will not bring with it another massive thing that will disrupt our lives.

These days people seem to be getting together like everything is fine. Not a good idea yet.

@DianneN Hubby told me his mom is doing her birthday celebration (it's this month) at home and inviting a lot of people as a lot of people want to come. I don't know on the exact number of people that wanna come but doing this is the dumbest thing ever right now. And she lives in an apartment not a house. The living room is not huge. I told hubby that if she invites a lot of people I will not go. He said that's fine but I don't know if it will be fine if I don't show up. I can't believe he didn't tell his mom not to do this. I guess he sees nothing wrong with that. If she wants to invite a lot of people to celebrate her birthday she could split it up into a few gatherings.

The fear around my nation is that our freedoms will be taken away like having to wear a mask outdoors and practicing social distancing in the name of safety. I hope I am wrong.

@lovebuglena I couldn't agree more! There are so many people I care about who are especially vulnerable. My daughter has Crohn's, which is an auto-immune disease. I have relatives with diabetes and COPD, some with both and I have a brother-in-law who recently underwent chemo. He seems to be beating stage 4 cancer, it would be horrible for him to be taken down by covid-19 because some selfish person didn't feel like wearing a mask!

@anniepa To die all because of some careless or heartless person who doesn't wear a mask because it violates his/her freedom would be a major disappointment. And that might not even be the right word.

I'm afraid you're right. I don't see anything improving in 2021...except maybe who is in office.

LindaOH, I'm with you 100%! The polls are looking pretty good for a President Biden in 2021 so with any luck at all we can be done with Trump for good. I believe his failed leadership is one reason we're in such a mess today. You don't get rid of a pandemic or protect your constituents from it by saying it's going to just disappear one day!

With how 2020 has turned out so far, 2021 will likely be better... provided we get out of 2020!

Anything will be better than 2020. The only good thing about 2020 is that I´m saving money for my 2021 vacations (if I can have them).

@marguicha You're welcome! I am going grocery shopping less often and do not go shopping at clothing stores or online. And no shows, concerts or movie going. So, I end up spending much less per month.

I am trying to live as "normal" a life as I can. I have grown used to wearing my mask. I can still write here, play guitar, and visit close friends. But I hope Covid-19 mutates into something that cause a day-long common cold. I want to get back to work.

Especially now since numbers are on the rise again, and people are starting to get together in large numbers like everything is normal.

Is a vaccine necessarily the answer?

@lovebuglena Well, the way I see it as long as people are not immune to the virus viral outbreak can still happen, forcing the government to implement harsher measures to prevent the spreading.

@JohnKu There people who take a flu shot and then get terribly sick. And there are those that never take the shot and do not get the flu. I know this is not the same thing as covid but who is to say that the vaccine is not gonna make a person's health worse?

I doubt things will be 100% back to normal, at least in the beginning of 2021, but I hope they will be better than they are now or have been this spring/summer.
