You cannot compare PHP and ASP.NET both have its own field of usage. I have seen massive site with a really big subscriber base that uses PHP and I have also seen sites like myLot built totally on ASP.Net 2.0. I will prefer PHP if I do not need to make a lot of database handling and will choose ASP.NET surely if there are huge database handling required like in myLot. PHP offers some really simple codes for big problems in ASP.NET on the other hand ASP.NET has far more features. But both of them are equally good I think. ASP.NET has an added advantage when it comes to SQL SERVER 2000/2005 but PHP enjoys a better handling of mySQL. So friends its hard to say which one is best. But a website build with a combination of both will be deadly beautiful and really good.
