It's raining crawdads!

It really is! We're expecting the hurricane tomorrow, but today my husband picked up around thirty or more crawdads in our backyard. Not sure how they're getting here, but it's crazy. Sure not cooking them either! This has been an eventful weekend. Friday our granddaughter's boyfriend proposed and gave her a beautiful engagement ring. We're really happy about that. He seems to be a good guy, very down to earth even though he's an attorney and comes from a wealthy NJ family. I know money doesn't guarantee happiness, but I pray they'll have a happy marriage and future. Yesterday my husband preached at our church (still outside) and I sang two songs. That afternoon, he preached a message for a funeral of our neighbor. Our daughter Tammy's in Jacksonville FL for her appointments at the Mayo Clinic from tomorrow until Friday. We're praying they can find out how to help her. We appreciate all prayers for her and she does, too. Hope y'all have had a good weekend. I'll let you know how Tammy's doing. EDIT: I knew I was forgetting something about this weekend. There was a 300 pound dead black bear in the median of the highway in front of our house yesterday. Probably hit by a big truck, would have caused a bad wreck with a car.

What an eventful weekend for you! Do you live near water where all those crawdads can make their way to your yard? And it's so sad to hear about the bear being killed. I always hate hearing about animals like that getting struck and killed on our roads and highways. I hope your granddaughter and her fiancé have a wonderful life together. I would love to hear you sing at church. You must have a wonderful singing voice!

Yeah, it really was a busy weekend. At least the bear was a good meal for a lot of animals. Thanks for the good wishes for our granddaughter...they both seem very happy. I've always loved to sing. I'm not a performer, but singing about Jesus is my favorite.

We do live next to a creek, but we don't usually see this many crawdads.

@1creekgirl One of my best friends lives in south Florida along a briny inlet to the sea, and every year millions of crabs migrate from the water and cover the yards, roads and land around where he lives by the millions as they make their way to God knows where to mate. It is quite a spectacle to see.

First off, I'm sending healing thoughts to your daughter. The other stuff sounds exciting and slightly odd! I have been in one tornado (In Iowa) but no fish were dumped upon us. I love black bears (they only attack if you get between a mommy and her baby) and am sad for the one that got taken out my a semi.

We're guessing it was a big truck...a car would have been messed up. At least the bear fed several other animals in the woods. (My husband dumped the bear with his tractor into the woods behind us.)

@1creekgirl I reckon that was the only thing to do. I've ever eaten bear meat.

@1creekgirl That is good to know since hurricanes are dangerous to deal with.

Congrats to granddaughter and boyfriend. True, $ don't buy happiness, but hopefully that will be one less concern for them. :-) Oh that's cool, I don't think I knew your husband is a minister? I've often though that must be a most challenging , but needed and rewarding profession.

Thanks! Our granddaughter seems so happy. Tammy got through all the testing at the Mayo Clinic, now waiting for a teleconference with them on Tuesday. We're praying they have a plan to help some of her issues.

Thanks, Belle. It's sort of a wait and see at this point to decide on possible surgery.

So glad to hear about your granddaughter. Sorry to hear about your neighbor. Hope everything goes well with Tammy's appointments. How terrible about the big black bear! I hope no one was injured. Except for the poor bear.
