My yummy breakfast......

Good morning from this side of the planet.
It's 10:30 AM now and I have some 20 minutes break in between my online classes. I thought of dropping in here to say a quick hi to all. And as I write this post, I am sipping my refreshing drink of buttermilk.. That's my mid morning snack/ drink for today.
I have back to back two classes till 1:30 afternoon and then the last tuition class from 3-4 in afternoon.
My lunch is ready. I cooked it in morning and now the soaked rice is in pot. My daughter or husband will cook it when they get a break around 12:30.
Today's breakfast was yummy akki roti ( a special dish of Karnataka, a southern state of India). Akki means rice...so basically it is a dish made of rice flour. We can add finally chopped veggies of our choice to it. I added grated carrot, green capsicum, onion, green chillies, coriander and soy leaves. The green chillies, coriander, soy leaves and carrot were the fresh harvests from my garden. And these fresh veggies made it extra delicious
We had it with coconut chutney and green mint and coriander chutney. The fresh mints were also from my garden.
The picture is of my breakfast today. I had it around 8 in the morning and I am still filling full after more than two hours. So it's yummy and filling too.
Now for some time I will sip my refreshing buttermilk and mylot
Have a good time

Akki roti is very popular dish of Karnataka. I too learnt it after coming to Bangalore. I learnt it from my household help six years back and since then it has become a frequent meal in our house. We even have it sometimes for lunch/dinner.

Buttermilk is made from home made curd. It helps with digestion and it is definitely yummy. We can make it healthier and tastier by adding more things ( depends on choice). Those who are intolerant to milk can opt for it. Also it is soothing and refreshing and more suited for summers. You can have it sweet or spicy and salty as you wish.

@birjudanak Actually the dough is a bit loose and can not be rolled. Sticks to rolling pin. So we put the ball on butter paper, grease our hand with oil and tap the ball in to roti shape with our palm. Then carefully we put it on tawa. Sometimes if not careful, it might break while shifting it from butter paper to tawa.

It is full of veggies. It is not like dosa/uttapam. It's only rice flour with no urad daal. Moreover we knead loose dough using warm water to avoid lumps. We do not roll it with rolling pin instead make in with palm on butter paper and then put it gently on pan to cook. That is a bit tricky part and needs practice to learn it.

It is indeed! All those of my friends in India or abroad from different cultures have tried it and loved it. We can do variations according to our taste..spicy, less spicy etc. It is quite healthy.
