Update on book selling

United States
August 6, 2020 11:04am CST
You might recall that I have a lot of books I know I will never read. Well today I went to the thrift store that I got them from and asked if they would take back these books. They said that they would, at a cheaper rate. I may get more voucher (store credit) than cash, but that will be okay for me. Most of the books I want to get rid of are books I bought on store credit anyway. IT will be good to get rid of them and make room on my shelf for more books. Now I have no excuse to be lazy. I went today and received $7.53 in cash & 0.59 in store credit for the few things I sold them.

This place is nice, and you can find decently priced books and board games, but you do not always get good prices on the things you sell them. Today I sold them two books, headphones for gaming and a bottle opener. They gave me $7.53 for it.

@amitkokiladitya There are not any shops that re-sell goods?

I can't wait to see more empty shelves, ready for things that I will actually use. Whatever they don't take back will be given to goodwill.

@paigea That's progress though! I hear you. I still put so many things off, and say "Oh well, I'll get rid of it tomorrow." only to let it set there.

This is really good, you get rid of unwanted books and you make some money.

Yes, I am happy about that. I do not expect to make much, but it will all be profit since the items I am getting rid of were free.

@LadyDuck Very true, and I am still working on only keeping items I will use or re-read.

Well, I guess this is a reminder for my sister and I to go through our books and donate them. Between the two of us, we have about 100+ boxes of books that haven't been touched in years! I'll have to give her a call to motivate her then haha! But honestly, good for you!

Oh wow! That is going to be a big task in front of you. There's no book shop that you could sell them to?

@MintyFreshBaby Ah okay, I understand that. I had to make a conscious effort to stop collecting so many, and am working on getting rid of ones I will never read. It's awesome that you got most of them for free though.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Probably not. But most of them were given to us from like family members and my mom even took them when our local library used to clean out their shelves for new stuff and they were giving them away so we just kinda accumulated them over the years because of that ahah.

Way to go...I have been using the little free library to get rid of books and take one or two I might one.

I haven't even looked to see if the little libraries are still around me. I know one vanished a year ago and it was the closest one to me.

This one is a media thrift store. It's sort of like a Barnes and Nobles, but with toys and more electronics.

Right, I am happy about it too. These are the same books I was talking about in another discussion. I hope I can get a little bit of money from them, but I'll be happy with a voucher as well.

Well at least those books did not end up in the trash basket, that would have been so sad!

I wouldn't have put them in the trash, but instead given them to goodwill.

@jvicentevalera I try not to throw away books. I have had to do this in the past, however, when the books were too damaged to be resold. I threw them into be recycled.
