Storybooks or cartoon network: which is better for Kids

Hi friends. One interesting question I get it now. As a mother now I learning and knowing lot of things for my kid needs. Kid like mostly Cartoon shows than cartoon books. Reason is shows grasping power and sound effects and many more. But they not showing that much interest in reading stories in book. If we put same story in cartoon or any animated video they understand very well. Now I cont understanding why the always go for visual shows always, why they not liking reading in book. As a parent for finding answer I trying my best. Any one having same experience with your kids too, how you managing them.
