In winter, I hang a piece of tallow on a tree. This is food for bluebirds . But very often woodpeckers eat this food. In the summer they climb into the feeders for the sparrows and eat the food of small birds. Woodpeckers stopped searching for food in the bark of trees. What did y?ou notice

Birds are always happy to get food where and when they can. If they can get food they don't have to work hard for, so much the better from their point of view!
