when i was a little kid and at primary school, teachers were very respected by people, student and parent. no one said to before them. but now, the wold has changed/ teacher as a profession is no longer respected as in the past. as a primary school teacher, i know it is very sometimes to feel. but yeah the world always changes, and the people too

I think prohibiting teachers not to use sticks and other punishment like standing in the wall lessen the fear or respect of the student to the teachers...

There was a time when education was considered as a means to climb up the social ladder.
Now education is considered as a business. Hence the consumer demands and complaints for the outcome.

@nawala123 Yes, what about the poor? They want to study but don't have money to buy books.

Why do you feel that the primary school teacher is not respected now?

Teachers don't get the same respect they received long time back from the students. Do the teachers just focus on teaching the syllabus and don't bother if the kids are really studying or not.

Students nowdays tend to be so stubborn and don't really have a big respect to their teachers. Especially to the younger teachers.

That's sad. Parents should tell their children to respect teachers
