New USB flash drive but not empty

Mom wanted some of her work pictures developed since we didn't have enough ink for a printer copy. Sadly, she lost the flash drive and had to buy a new one.
Usually when there's a new USB, it's supposed to be empty but this wasn't. It was filled with more than a dozen music.
Sadly, I could have bought from some where else who have better usb, then again I got desperate and had to get this thing done.

That means it is not new. it has already been used. Couldn't you return it and replace it?

You should format it and also check that it actually is the size claimed. There are many products which trick the OS into reporting they are a larger size.
