Hey, didn’t I mention this song the other day in the 40-year-old countdown? Why, yes! (in best Priscilla the hen [Foghorn Leghorn’s foil] voice) I did! Well, let’s skip the passing mentions and celebrate this song, because it’s nifty-fifty!
Kentucky Rain - Elvis Presley
Think about this: if I had a “60-year-old song” list, Elvis would be on it, too!
Co-written by Eddie Rabbitt (who did the 1980 highlighted song “Drivin’ My Life Away”), “Kentucky Rain” was very popular here (and not just because Elvis sang it ). Actually, it was popular everywhere: one of Elvis’s big hits.
And they still play it. It’s just a good song.
Kentucky Rain
Written by Eddie Rabbitt and Dick Heard
Recorded by Elvis Presley
Released as a single, 1970
