Do you usually use bleach in cleaning your toilet?

A few years ago, I did some volunteering and I was assigned to cleaning the toilets. We were so many and I learned that using toilet brush (hard bristles) and bleach could damage the bowl. So we used this very soft cleaning stuff for the bowl and tiles. No wonder the facilities remain in good condition even if they are old. But in our house, I use bleach and brush with hard bristles. I also use other cleaning supplies which I will not mention here. What about you, do you also use bleach and brush in cleaning your toilet?

Bleaching powder releases chlorin when mixed with water. This kills most bacteria and fungus. It also makes the surface whiter . But the chlorin fumes are dangerous to the lungs and skin. Wear proper protective hand gloves, nose mask and eye protective goggles.

@Janet357 Chlorine is a colourless gas which has a pungent smell. It's used in purification of water.

Some say it's good to use baking soda for cleaning purposes. But I haven't tried it yet in toilets. I just do brush and use cleaning solution for it.

I used that last night. It is what I have and you need something to keep it from getting nasty.

I have done it before! It has worked but maybe I should change how I clean my toilet if I want it to last longer!

I use a cleaner that has bleach in it, yes. I also use 2000 flushes, which is a bleach that you put into the tank.

I mostly use a toilet bowl cleaner, but every now and then I will use bleach and a hard-bristle brush to scrub it really well. I sure hope it's not damaging the porcelain bowl!

Yes and yes and maybe I needed to read this as a portion of my been doesn't stay clean very long. Maybe it's the hard bristles and bleach. I know how to back flush. Maybe I'll get some soft scrub and try that for awhile with a side scrubby. I guess I'm shopping after work after all.
