Interesting Day

So, I was out and about today and found a most unusual building. It was an old bank building that had been converted into apartments. The building dated from the late 1800's. What was really interesting was their community room was a converted bank vault and the vault door might have been capable of closing. It was really ornate and probably cost a fortune back in the day. I took a pic but of course I can not load it on mylot. I never saw anything like it. Also, I did get some unusual freebies while out, multi colored sunglasses, a lighted selfie ring (wish I knew a teenage girl) and a hooking gadget that is supposed to keep you safe when swiping and using the ATM.
The weather fortunately, was not awful and only rained hard once when I was reasonably close to home. So it was a good day. Do you like to get out and about, or does Covid have you homebound?

It is very nice that sturdy buildings like this can be re used instead of just being demolished. I hope they had sprinklers in them. I wonder what they do about the asbestos that was probably used for insulation, or maybe not. Not sure when they started using that.

@snowy22315 Yes it really is, and so often they are replaced with apartments or just demolished. Interesting article I found about asbestos. Started in the 1800s by the way.

@CarolDM Thanks, This probably has it for insulation. I guess as long as it stays intact and covered it is probably OK.

@snowy22315 Right. Wear a mask, stay six feet apart and wash your hands regularly... That's the best thing to do.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I also keep hand sanitizer in the car and sanitize after getting gas, shopping or what not.

Maybe you can make a reservation and ask for that. I got to dine outdoors a few weeks ago with friend because he did not want to wait at the place I wanted to go, and the other place was only doing inside dining with reservations..so we sat outside by default. It was pleasant.

@snowy22315 They would not take reservations but we ended up with a seat on the patio anyway.

It sounds like an amazing place. I love places with a history.
I went to the doctor this morning, and couldn't believe how hot it was, plus the humidity. After a stop at the pharmacy I went home. It's so hot my dogs don't even want to go outside.

Richmond has tons of funky places in that area. One place I know of, has residences converted from an old Civil War Hospital. I wonder if it is haunted?? lol. It was pretty cool, but not a great place if you want lots of sunlight.

Yes, I can only handle being at home so much. Besides nothing delivers here.
