When it rains people generally take shelter under a tree or some metal structures to avoid getting drenched in the rain.
Most scientists and experts have found that lightening strikes tall structures like towers , buildings and even trees. The metal structures and trees acts as earthing rods having negative potential for the lightning to reach the earth.
Hence avoid going out in the rain avoid standing close to trees or tall structures as they can cause severe burns and even death.

I'm scared of the lighting so much. It felt that it will strike me when it's there.

@jayanth_77 I had that moment when I thought I will get hit by it when I'm outside the house to meet someone. It's really traumatic!

@jayanth_77 That's true. We switch off and unplug our computers when there is a big storm.

Standing inside building is safe. But not on rooftops or touching metal objects. Also electronic equipments like TV , fridge, computers need to be switched off and unplugged during heavy rain as they can get damaged did to sudden spike in electricity.
