I was taking a selfie with the suspected edible fruit when a motorcycle stopped to say that the fruit is Bignay. It is a berry that is common in the nearby provinces. The fruit is sour and best to be for cooking. It is also made into wine.
I have not tasted it yet, waiting for it to turn red.

@Alexandoy Just be sure that by the time you will taste it you are 100% sure that they are bignay fruits. It reminds me of a tree I used to see backnin the province that looks like that. My grandfather said they are eaten by bats. l wonder if that is it. l just didn’t ask what the name of that tree.

If this fruit was planted in your yard, why didn't you know what it was?

@kobesbuddy that is a good attitude to think that a strange fruit may be poisonous.

@Alexandoy Oh, all right. I pass by different things growing along the forest. Sometimes I wonder if they could be poison.

It is not sold in the market because it is considered exotic fruit.

They are red when ripe and quite nice to eat when not very sour.

Bignay is a very sour fruit. But one time I chanced upon a tree in Bulacan that is not very sour and nice to eat.

That sounds like a good berry to use with overly sweet or salty dishes. I'm glad it is edible.
