Day 12 Promise 457 Matthew 19:28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. 30 But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first. Many people believe they must do something to receive eternal life. They believe that being good, living a good life, and doing good deeds will earn them eternal life. The rich young ruler came to Jesus and asked Him what he could do to inherit eternal life. Jesus told him to keep the commandments, sell all that he had, give it to the poor, and follow him. He went away sorrowful. The disciples asked Jesus the same question when He told them it would be hard for rich men to enter heaven. He then told them that anyone who left everything for Him would receive a hundred times more than they had and eternal life. Most people can’t get past giving up everything they have for the sake of the gospel. They continue to look for other ways to inherit eternal life. As Christians, you know following Jesus isn’t an easy life. You will see hardship, condemnation, persecution, and be shunned by friends and family. However, the hardships the world gives is nothing compared to what you receive as a follower of Jesus. John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (KJV) When you put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ, He will provide everything you need and you will see your desires too. Psalm 37:3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. 4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. 5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. (KJV) Do you find it hard to trust God to meet your needs? God has never failed in any of His promises. Put yourself to the test. Trust Him and watch Him provide for you. Let’s pray: Father, help me put my faith and trust in You to meet my needs. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 19 August 2020 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

Amen. I was smiling ear to ear while reading your devotion. I thank God for your life, Valerie. The young rich man asked how he can inherit eternal but he did not obey. I remember Jesus mentioned "it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God".

Yes, that is also mentioned in that passage. Did you know that the eye of the needle referred to the smallest gate in Jerusalem? In order to pass through, the camel needs to unload everything. It's called the Needle Gate. Have a blessed day.
