Hydrangea Did Not Bloom This Year

Was out walking in the yard earlier this morning after coffee. Snapped a photo of my Hydrangea bush. It grows about six feet tall every year. And usually it has big blue clusters of blooms. Nothing this year except green leaves. I have always been told the soil makes the difference in the blooms. Maybe next year the blooms will return. Either way, the leaves are nice and green. Taking the good with the not so good in life. Have a good day everyone.

Some apple trees are the exact same way. One year, my brother's trees give wonderful apples. The next year, he doesn't get even one.

Yes those fruit trees are like that for sure. Nature has a mind of its own.

@CarolDM And Bill has no explanation, except that some years the apples aren't available!

But everything blooms so beautifully in your garden - I am surprised. But I suppose nature has a reason this time . . . more energy for next year's blooms . Yes, the leaves do look healthy!

Thank you. This one is kind of moody I believe. Some years blooms, others years not.

I had one blue bloom on my everlasting hydrangea thanks to the deer. Since I sprayed it, it has filled out again and remain hopeful it will bloom.

@CarolDM I have some that should not be chopped down at the end of the season, but the lawn care company doesn't know that. They are not the everlasting kind. I doubt they will bloom this late in the season.

@CarolDM Weird. Check that the soil is acid as the plant likes.

My Hydrangea bloomed, but not as many flowers as the past years. Mine is pink, should I add iron to the soil it will turn blue, but I like it pink.

@CarolDM I could separate the bush and place half in a pot and make those flowers blue.
