It took me a while to understand, duh!
The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
But who's counting? That sentence always left me puzzled. What were they talking about? It all centers around one word.
My empty tummy isn't as large as what I'm seeing in that donutbox but wait there is more to this than could be imagined. I filled that empty whole and then sum.

Good analogy. Donuts can be greater because it has a lot of sugar.

It occurred when my roommate whom I share my habitat with entered carrying a large box of round sugar coated chocolate dipped round dough like circle eatables. The object is to have one. But this never happens the way it is planned. One more reward, a treat for catching the criminal.
