A major fire accident at a hydel power plant in India

India
August 21, 2020 11:56pm CST
A major fire broke out at a 1000 MW hydel power plant in Srisailam dam located on the border between the state of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Around 9 staff who were on duty in the night died while trying to dowze the fire which started in one of the electrical panels. As the staff realised they would not come out alive they called up their families and said their final good byes. Instead of running away from the site the staff tried their best to contain the fire and in the process lost their lives. The cause of the fire seems to be due to over voltage and will be known only after detail investigation. image courtesy: indiatoday.in

Omg. ...that was brave and worth the salute. I have goose flesh on imaging what would have the families of the deceased gone through

@jayanth_77 but compensation is really not a substitute for the deceased but definitely a help

Yes terrible situation. Government has decided to pay compensation and also give job to one member from each diseased employees family.

@amitkokiladitya yes money can't compensate a loved one's life but it the next best thing what government can do for the bereaved family.

@jayanth_77 That is just heartbreaking. Yes, the same thing happened during 911. They are all such brave people.

The fire started in an undeground tunnel in one of the electrical panels . The smoke from the fire engulfed the tunnel making escape impossible.
