Day 16 Promise 471 Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso reads, let him understand:) 16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house: 18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened. 23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25 Behold, I have told you before. 26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. 27 For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 28 For wheresoever the carcass is, there will the eagles be gathered together. 29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. 32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and puts forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: 33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. 34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. 35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. 36 But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. Have you wondered what the end times would be like? Do you consider it a myth? Jesus outlined what will take place in the end times. He gave specific signs of what to look for and when the end would come. The end of what? There are three schools of thought when it comes to the end times. This section of Jesus’ prophecy regards what will happen immediately after those signs mentioned at the beginning of the chapter. As Christians, you wait for the rapture of the church. When will it happen? Will the rapture take place before the Tribulation called the Pre-Tribulation rapture when Jesus returns to take all believers to heaven so they won’t experience the Tribulation? Will Jesus come for believers in the middle of the Tribulation before the Great Tribulation begins when the Antichrist steps up his persecution of all those who accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord during the first part of the Tribulation, called Mid-Tribulation rapture? Or will Jesus return at the end of the Tribulation to gather all believers at once, those saved before the Tribulation, now, along with all those saved during the Tribulation, called Post-Tribulation rapture. These verses refer to the Tribulation. Jesus told His disciples when the end would come; when the whole world has the opportunity to hear the good news of salvation. No man knows when that will be, we only have the signs to guide us. Jesus mentioned the Great Tribulation, showing the Tribulation will have two parts. What we know for certain from these verses, is there will be an end of what we know today. Jesus will return for His bride, His church, and it will be a time judgment on all those who reject Jesus as Savior and Lord. People will mourn when they see Jesus, the Son of man appearing with power and great glory with the angels. A full description of the Tribulation is in the book of Revelation. This is a short description of what will take place when the end comes. Regardless of when the rapture occurs, you know it will happen. You know the Tribulation will happen, God’s judgment on all those who rejected Jesus as Savior and Lord. From the beginning of creation until this present time, God has never failed in any of His promises. Man makes light of the end times because Satan doesn’t want anyone to believe the end times is real, that God will judge him along with all unbelievers. Remember, God’s promises never fail. Let’s pray: Father, Your Word is powerful. Your Word never fails. Let me be ever watchful as I wait for Your Son’s return. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
