A ketchup kind of morning

I don't usually splat ketchup onto my morning eggs and rice but this hot meal, ketchup just sounded good. Kind of comforting.
I had been grumbling out of bed, hubby had the morning horrid radio news on. The general deal. Then blip. The radio went dead. Silence. Sunshine coming through the windows and silence. Hubby started to blame the station just as the dryer quit tossing wet clothes around.
Yup. Power out. Cause we don't have smart phones we had no way to know what was going on. No power for us means that the well pump won't deliver water. Hubby thought up the idea of calling a neighbor. He did and she answered that about five hundred people were out of electricity. The power company had been called.
I decided to get into day clothes and made a tepid cup of my usual cocoa. About an hour later the power returned- yay!! and the neighborhood group on Facebook told me that there had been a small fire about 2 miles away. Yikes. Dry grass fire in July and August can mean tons of danger. It appeared that it was small and put out.
On to my ketchup and hot rice and leftover kidney beans and eggs. On to watching the sparrows outside the window.

@sallypup Good thing. We tend lose power any time there's a good storm. There's a bad transformer somewhere down the street, and it blows often. You'd think by now someone might have figured out why THAT transformer is so prone to taking a hit when it storms. But it is what it is. Most of the time power is restored within a few hours, but there have been a couple of times we were without power for a couple of days.
