Too Bad.....

This is one of the five meatloafs I made Saturday. Too bad we ate it so recently, because it would have been so good to have tonight.
Today it’s so cool out and will only warm up to a nice day. Ribeye is on the menu for dinner tonight. Hubby does the grilling here, so I will let him grill the steak, bake the potatoes and grill a vegetable while I stay indoors keeping toasty.
I walked this morning for almost 2 hours in the chilly air. Dressing in layers helped, but my hot shower felt so good.
Too bad summer is almost over. Too bad we aren’t planning to return to Florida. Too bad it’s the last day of August. But good thing I have 4 more meatloafs in the freezer!

@DianneN sure there are two variations
1. 1 pound ground beef, 1 pound Italian sausage (we substitute turkey sausage and ground turkey sometimes)
panko 1/2 cup
1 onion minced
2 cloves garlic
two versions
1. smother in ketchup and bake
2. mother in cream of mushroom soup (no milk) and bake

Our last August morning seems to cold (cold to me anyway ). Actually gray and a tad bit of fog - haven't seen it like this in a long while. But summer is definitely not near over here . . . we have triple digits coming again by the weekend! Enjoy your ribeye dinner tonight, but I wouldn't mind having having meatloaf twice in a week .

@DianneN I used to love those foggy days . . . we don't get them much these days. We got a little this morning again, but the temps are going to hike up again from here on out. When does summer weather typically leave over there?
Kids are fine. Mostly ok with this distant learning arrangement . But I try to get them to do different things after they are done - so that's why I'm not here as often as I was. Daughter has an AP class now, so she's got more work to do.

@much2say We will get a mixture of cooler and hotter days until they become much colder mid October.
Happy to hear the kids adjusted well with the distance learning, and triple yays to your daughter!!!!! As I've told you, you are a wonderful mother! Good for you!

I remember the fog off the coast in CA, and hope it burns off as it warms up.
Today our low was 54 and the high was 71. Too cold for me.
We had meatloaf sandwiches for lunch today. Too much red meat, so tomorrow we will go meatless.
Have a wonderful day. How are the kids doing?

@DianneN how do you eat it? or what do you eat it with? i think the equivalent here would be embotido, which we would eat with rice.

@hereandthere I serve it in slices with mashed potatoes and a vegetable. We had fresh asparagus with it Saturday night.

We still have hot and humid weather here. I’m looking forward to the cooler temps, but it may be awhile.

I love meatloaf and that one certainly looks delicious. I especially like it leftover for sandwiches.
Can't believe another month has come to an end and pretty soon we'll be dealing with cold weather.
Guess you'll be staying here for the winter?

I am feeling pretty much the same way except for the meatloaf lol I don't have a big enough freezer to cook ahead that much. I think about getting another freezer but I have to think about it more. My freezer is full of bread lol I am always buying bread with no preservatives and I need to freeze it after a couple days lol it adds up.

@DianneN @LadyDuck I've switched the heating on! It's on 'low' but I already feel better. I always argue with myself if I should give in and switch the heating on. Then I think of my mother who used to say, "Better hungry than cold." I can't really understand this. It must have been an experience she had during the war or the meagre post-war years.

Oh, 72ish is too hot for us in the house! It was 54 when I walked. Our a/c hasn't been switched off to the heat setting, yet. It has to be 65 or lower at night for us to sleep under our comforter.
It was 54 this morning, which would be a freezing day in Florida.
Sorry about the late response. I was on the phone with Sharon, who just lost her brother. I've been so sad for her.

Haha i like your last paragraph,
You mean to say you like summer then,
When i was reading your post,i was thinking that meat loaf is in can.I only saw in my country a ready made meatloaf.I am wondering how you made your home made one.
It's good to know you walked for 2 hours.
It's a good exercise.
Anyway, have a good good morning to you there.
Enjoy your day.

I love summer and any warm weather. I have made so many meatloafs, that I just make it up as I go along. If you want a good recipe, look on this page for Scott Anderson. He gave me a very good recipe that I will try next.I b bake mine for 1 hour and 15 minutes at 325 degrees. I don't know the conversion in your country.
Thanks. I enjoyed my walk.
