I get all of my movies from my local library. I don't have cable. I don't go to the movies. I don't even want to pay for netflix. I can have the movie for 1 week for free from my local library. If nobody else requests it, I can keep renewing it week after week. The only downside is that if I don't renew and turn it in late, I am charged $1/day. But I think that this system is more than fair.

I have once or twice when we had to rent a movie for school or watch a documentary. Our local library has movies for free, but they are educational or kids movies (preschool age). I think they are adding mre movie to the library. They are still rebuilding the stock of books they had pre-Katrina.

We usually get 3 or 4 movies a week from the library. It is probably the best kept secret in our town. I work in a video store and have digital cale and still I get movies from the library. Not only is it cheaper and I can keep them for a week, I feel that by paying my dollar I am helping the library to continue to purchase not only movies but also books and computers and supplies. I think that more people should support their local library. We live in a small city and our library is as good or better than any in the bigger cities I have visited.

That's great! I love to do things that that to save money. We have some movies at our library. Right now I have "Sarah, Plain and Tall" checked out. I used to be a member of Netflix, but I found that we would get movies and they would just lay around. We weren't getting our money's worth, in other words. Most of the movies at our public library are geared towards children or do-it-yourself.
