Tulips in Nannup, Western Australia

I haven’t been here much the last two days. We’ve had visitors since Monday but they’ve gone home now. Yesterday we went to a small town called Nannup. It used to be a West Australian timber town but is now struggling to survive.
Each year the locals plant thousands of tulip bulbs as a tourist attraction. Most are planted in tubs and gardens on the road verges. The recent rain and wind has damaged some but we still enjoyed seeing them. Some were almost black but I didn’t get a photo of them.
Tomorrow we go to an endurance ride to take photos so I’ll be ‘missing in action’ again for a day or two.

@JudyEv You can put the bulbs in a freezer for a few weeks. They will then grow when moved outside if you are in a warmer area. Even if we would move I plan on doing that if I would have to.

@LindaOHio I tend to get a bit compulsive about them and end up with a stiff neck and shoulders. If I bring them out when someone else is here, we tend to come and go more and it doesn't affect me so much. I also do them online occasionally.

@JudyEv I had a bunch of Paypal money and some gift cards. I bought 3 boxes of jigsaw puzzles and am down to the last two. I find them fun.

@JudyEv , I am dealing with the Thoroughbreds which are used for flat racing in India! I don't think we have any endurance riding for common people in our country! May be the Military people might be doing it! That is nice to know that three vets are attending the ride. That is a must for the endurance riding! All are from Australia only?

@AKRao24 We do have international riders are a very few of our rides, mostly in the Eastern states. We will be having a major ride next year and would expect some international riders, depending on the virus, of course. It was cancelled from this year.

That is so cool about the tulip plantings. It's funny, I was thinking to myself... "tulips are a spring flower" but then I realized, this must be spring for you.

@JudyEv my wife's family is originally from Holland. She gasped when she saw them. I guess it is a genetic connection!

Why they are struggling to survive? Due to corona?

@JudyEv Oh they are so beautiful! I've heard of Nannup but not sure if I've ever been there. I must be confusing it with another place as there are a lot of places ending with "up."
Have a lovely time! ![](/Content/images/emotes/hugs.gif)

@VivaLaDani13 I do now! I looked it up.
We don't get up that way often but if we're heading that way one day, I'll message you. Actually we're heading to Woodvale in a couple of weeks but our time is committed. Vince will be playing golf and the folk we're staying with have plans for the day. But some other time when we're heading north of the river, I'll try to arrange a coffee or whatever. ![](/Content/images/emotes/thumbup.gif)

@JudyEv That is so sweet of you, thank you! I'd like that.
Same if you ever come near where I live. I am not that far from Burns Beach (won't say my suburb here but I am not far from the beach). Do you know where Burns Beach is?
