Was out early having coffee in the screen room. Saw some butterflies in Dustin's garden.
Had my iPhone in my pocket, so I went out to snap some photos.
To my surprise this beautiful Monarch made its presence among the flowers. I usually see these later in the day. Was pleasantly surprised to see one so early in the morning.
And happy to get some photos. These butterflies will be leaving soon for their migration.
I hope they can get all the pollen they need before their journey starts.
*Update I was asked by @TheHorse if I had to tattoo my photo with my name. My answer is ....
Yes I did have to tattoo with my name. My photos are often stolen.

@CarolDM In my part of the world, September is where spring begins.

Yes I did have to tattoo with my name. My photos are often stolen. Not a good feeling.
I have written about the migration before. They usually fly to Mexico.

Pleasant surprise at such a time like you had in Dustin's Garden.
I had one fluttering last Monday while I was manually cutting grass with garden scissors. So, I was really quiet when it came.

Beautiful photo! I guess it was thinking early bird gets the first worm. ..only in butterfly terms, of course. Maybe I'm not watching enough, but mostly what I've seen here are small white butterflies. But I know others come through here.
