Food is not just a necessity to satisfy our needs and cravings but also a representation of ourselves based on our own happiness, satisfaction and our rich culture.
Let me share a little about my native food (Salad, please the photo) and how could it be related to our way of life as people from the North-western most part of my country, The Philippines.
Basically, it is a kind of vegetable salad. Its components are usually found only in the backyards. The ingredients are peeled roasted eggplant, chopped fresh onion and tomato. As noticed, the ingredients are few but don’t just make fun of it because it can feed an entire family if served with hot fried rice with a cup of boiled aromatic coffee beans especially in the morning.
Our way of life in the north is really amazing because “it is simple but enough” like the fresh salad, it represents our simplicity, resourcefulness and economical lifestyle (It is always good to save for the rainy days).
How to deal with us is simple and clear! It is like when we do the cooking. Extravagance and fancy decorations are not acceptable (It is a big NO to my mama) so be sure to find your fresh ingredients elsewhere and don’t just rely on the items found in the market but we also are appreciative If you’re innovative. Garnishing is not a big deal for as long as you have caught the ideal taste and the preparation is neat and clean— it is more than Perfection!
The salad, like us we appreciate and find more value to simple things, we live life to the fullest but not beyond our means. More importantly, we hate things to get complicated and we enjoy our lives in the most practical ways.
I am always willing to learn more about your food and culture. Please react and if u can, share a little in the comment box.
Thank you for your precious time. Happy Reading and God Bless us all

That looks yummy! I love salads and make varieties of them. Love them for their health benefits and taste. We too prefer freshly cooked meals with fresh ingredients in our traditional cooking. I am particular about it.

I have met an indian friend once in time and he invited me into his kitchen. He prepared the chapatti for me. The preparation is pretty hard i think but the effort pays a lot...

I could live with that salad everyday. Love it.
Commending you for your depiction of Northern Philippines. True, they say that's where heaven meets earth. The simplicity of life is amazing. The people are trustworthy and hardworking. A day is always a day lived to the fullest. No matter the abundance of natural vegetation. Fresh fruits and vegetables could suffice one's sustenance a lifetime.
Good writing. Good post.

I grew up eating foods with very high carbs (that was all we knew). Down the line, I realized how bad for the health they were, so, I started incorporating more salads in my meals and less carbs (couldn't avoid them totally).
Your meal looks yummy, by the way.
