Introvert prime mover: lone but not alone

I have overcome my fear and my shyness as what I have related them in previous posts. Now I will relate my introvert attitude puts me up as a responsible leader. Some of my friends fielded me to run for a presidency in the Education class department. I didn't have a second thought. I filed my presidential candidacy. I didn't have any party affiliation. I ran as independent. My motto is "Lone but not alone" which worked in my favor and I was catapulted to the presidential post defeating my other two opponents. During the inauguration I addressed a huge group of education students expressing my sincerest gratitude of giving me the trust and confidence of leading them. "I am a lone in my in the independent ticket for I don't want to be under the will or control of those who are thirst for power. I am my own willpower to lead you towards the success of our department in terms academic excellence and socialization. I am not alone for your presence and all-out support are more than enough to inspire and keep me moving and God has endowed the me the mantle of a true leader with unwavering faith in God." That inaugural speech has proven that my introvert personal could make me a committed and dedicated leader.

I like that motto "Alone but not lonely" Sometimes we do need our own little corner to reflect and to overcome our fears. It's not a sign of weakness to just be on your own rather a self reflection of self-care. I have had my days too that I just want to be on my lane, on my own space and in that way it makes me realize on things. Thanks for sharing.

Have you read "Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a world that can't stop talking" by Susan Cain? It's a wonderful read and I agree on most points being an introvert myself. Congratulations on winning the presidency, and I am glad you have taken upon the mantle of leadership to help your fellow classmates. Make sure that you walk your talk and that you prove yourself to be a good leader not just in words, but in action because that is much more important. Being alone can have its advantages, but being alone in everything you do without any help - is impossible. No matter how we say we can do things alone, we cannot do it. We can do some to an extent but we need each other's help and cooperation to actually make a difference. So despite your slogan, I can advise that you strengthen the individual skills of your classmates so that when you all work together, your output would be amazing. As Luciano De Crescenzo said, "We are each of us angels with only one wing, so we can only fly embracing each other." Cheers!

Congratulations! That was a wonderful inaugural speech! My husband was elected chairman of two departments at his university for 22 or 23 consecutive years until he retired. It was an honor.

Public speaking tends to cause me a lot of stress. Few people are aware of this as I hide it well. Many years ago I attended a class which helped me enormously. IAt that time I never anticipated actually using what I learned....but surprise, it is a constant advantage.

I do not really believe in these labels, of introvert, or extrovert. Sure, we have preferences of how we like best to be, and to act, but we have it all within us. God wouldn't make somebody half-baked. We are both extroverts and introverts, but it is up to us to choose which one we prefer to dominantly use. It's a bit like right and left-handed people. We usually have a preference, but we sure can use our other hand when required.

@Nakitakona Yes, they have many theories and labelling methods; the myer-briggs profiling technique is one I came across at work once, years ago. It's a sort of a personality test.
