Before I explore whatever awaits me today I’ll give you something that’ll make you jump and shout and go “hey!” That is, another song with “hey” in the title. JJ inspired this countdown by saying he’d be impressed with a Ted Nugent song from me, so I came up with a countdown where I could use the one song of his I like. Today’s song has the official JJ Stamp of Approval™ without his even knowing it was coming.
#5: Hey Bartender - Blues Brothers
Of course this was a cover. The Blues Brothers — a skit that Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi had as a musical warm-up before SNL shows started — was nothing but a cover act. The song goes back to the mid-50s and Floyd Dixon.
The funny thing is, when the Blues Brothers did it, other people started covering it, too. In fact, the song, by Johnny Lee (the “Lookin’ for Love” guy), was a country hit.
Enjoy a very seriously good rendition from two funny men.

What is really interesting is, I played with a lot of bands before, this is where I first heard it, and I really liked it ! Later I heard the Blues Brothers do it, then I heard the original, and then I heard the Johnny Lee version ! These bands that I played and learned it with, and my band, did it with a real zing to it, that's why I liked it ! It had a more modern version of R & B , than Floyd Dixon, A more rock and roll version than the Blues Brothers, and not as country as Johnny Lee , I like all the versions, and I thank all these artists for introducing it to me, because Its a song we get a lot of requests for !.

First time I hear this and never watched The Blues Brothers. I might try to find the movie to see what I have missed. This reminded me of the movie Cocktail and Tom Cruise behind the bar.

Man I miss the Blues Brothers. What a fabulous combination of talent, even if their stuff was covers. I always loved Belushi and Akroyd together.
