Whacky Neighbor

So when I was little we had this neighbor across the road. I seldom communicated with him. One day he asked to borrow something from us so I said that I will bring it over later. A few weeks earlier he had put this big black gate outside his house. There were no walls or anything. Just this gate...I thought okay....maybe he is going to fence or wall around it later on. So I go to his house, not thinking much about it, I walk around the gate and knock onhis door. He opens the door and angrily shouts and be for not calling him and asking him to open the gate for me. "You were supposed to come in through the gate!" I was in my early teens, I had absolutely no idea how to respond...that gate stayed just like that for years later. It was like that till the day we moved to a different city...I am still shocked about that incident and sometimes randomly think about it and ask mysely " What in the world?!!!" Have you had any strange or whacky experiences like that?
