Yesterday's dinner menu changed

So yesterday I thought of having tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner. That idea changed after scrolling through the Instagram feed. I saw someone post a picture of roasted duck they had made. That's when I knew that tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich would have to wait. I had to have some duck.
I wasn't gonna make duck from scratch because it takes at least 2.5 hours to cook in the oven. I went to my Russian grocery store for some already made duck. At first I couldn't find it but then spotted it in the same tray as the chicken. They usually never combine the two in one tray. Wonder why they did that yesterday.
Anyways, it wasn't a full duck but a big piece of it. Enough for one dinner for two people. Which is what I wanted. It came out to exactly one pound. And there were no leftovers.
We weren't gonna have just duck by itself. That would not fill us up. So, I boiled some Bulgur grain and added butter and sauteed onions. And then I made a salad with the sour cabbage I bought at the store. I added dried cranberries, fresh cilantro, shallots, and olive oil. It was a very delicious dinner. And pretty filling but not too much.
Now that tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich dinner is still on the menu. Just for a different day. Not sure when that will be. Tonight I will be making baked lamb breast ribs with fried sweet potatoes. And we have marinated mushrooms to go along with that. And tomorrow I am gonna bake some chicken thighs with sauteed patisson (or pattypan) squash. Maybe we will even have some of those marinated mushrooms left over for tomorrow.

@lovebuglena Yeah, we are due for one of those over here as well. Although if we have it for dinner we usually throw some ham on them.

I have had duck l'orange and with cherries but that is about all the duck I have ever eaten and never at home. It does sound good. we had fettuccine with portobello sauce.

That sounds good. I made myself before but whole duck, never just the legs. It's pretty juicy and tasty. But too long to cook. So gotta know ahead of time you wanna make that.

I haven't had duck in decades. You have quite a varied menu planned. Hope it all goes well for you. Enjoy!

Those food posts can make you really hungry and crave for something you had no intention of eating.

@amitkokiladitya I was lucky the store had it. Sometimes I want it but it is not there. Probably sold out.
