September 11 - What I'm Thankful for Today

It's hard to believe it's been 19 years since the attack on the World Trade Center. Do you remember where you were and what you were doing nineteen years ago? I was working on a book and almost finished with it. One day I will publish it.
Today I have much to be thankful for. One person mentioned she's thankful for the things we take for granted. There are so many things we encounter and do through the course of our day, we don't even think about.
I'm thankful for the sunrise. It was cloudy today, but the sun did come out to play for a little while.
I'm thankful for my bed. I like a good firm mattress. It's better on my back than those softer ones.
I'm thankful for the food I have in my fridge. Today, I didn't eat until I got home from doing laundry and going to the hospital for lab work. I was hungry. There are many people in the world who suffer from hunger and starvation.
I'm thankful for a wonderful place to live. Of all the places I've lived in my 67 years on this earth when it comes to rentals, this is by far the best of them all. I know there are many homeless people who don't have a place to lay their heads, and I take my apartment for granted, without thinking about being homeless.
I'm thankful for living 67 years. Every day is a blessing.
I'm thankful for my health. I have some medical problems, but overall, I'm in good health.
I'm thankful for my family. We've been through the ups and downs of life and still love each other.
I'm thankful for my friends. I never had a lot of friends growing up, so to find people who want to spend time with me and care about me blows me away every day.
I'm thankful for this virtual world. I grew up in a time without computers, the Internet, instant communication, and twenty-four-hour news coverage. We can know what's going on anywhere in the world at any given moment. I had three channels and they went off at midnight. Times have changed.
I'm thankful for the gifts and talents God gave me. I'm not only an author. I'm a seamstress, good cook, love to bake, an entry-level architect, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a child of the living God.
I don't want to take my life for granted as I give praise for what God has done in my day.
What are you thankful for today? Thanks for reading. It's time to get off the computer. I've finished the notifications, worked on Vendetta, had a nap, and had a wonderful morning with my son. Time to relax and turn the heating pad on my lower back. I don't know what I did but I hope it heals soon. The image belongs to me.

I'm glad you left the ladybug's home alone. So good you didn't need bail funds. I'm sure those whinnies and soft muzzles are a total blessing.
My back/hip is much better this morning. I'm moving more freely. If it is the knees, it should straighten out with the knee replacement. Though it never hurt this bad before and the knees have been bad for years.

@just4him I remember JFK as I was in the third grade at school and the Principal went from classroom to classroom informing us of his assassination and then dismissing those of us who walk to go on home about an hour early while those who rode the bus waited for the bus to come. Some parents were already picking up their kids. The first day back to school the whole school assembled outside for the raising of the flag and then lowering to half staff as a memorial as someone played taps on the bugle.

A lot to be thankful for, all of us. It's the simple things in life I am most grateful for. I have means, but am by no means materialistic. It's nice to know I have a nice place to hang my hat, a nice vehicle to get to work, and of course to HAVE a job amongst all of this recent craziness.
As for remembrance of 9/11, I can NEVER forget. In fact, at the time I was unfortunately unemployed, so I was watching Fox News when the first plane hit and I thought what a terrible accident. When the second plane hit I knew something was wrong, and I called my mom and told her "I think we're under attack and probably headed to war."

@just4him We are doing one trip a month these days. I normally do Kansas City/Wichita and Wisconsin. It used to be each of those each month, but now it's one every other month. Slowly but surely getting back to at least SOME modicum of normal...whatever normal is anymore. lol

Wow, what a grateful post. You hit on so many things, that I take for granted. I was just thinking about the homeless, and the hungry. I too grew up with no internet, and instant access. But when you slow down, we have so much to be thankful for. Thank you, for the post.

I remember that I was watching tv then when there was a news flash and seeing the videos flashed on screen I can't believe it was real as it seems to be a scene from a movie. Now, there are so much to be grateful of and just waking up to a new day everyday is already a blessing that we had to appreciate so much.

Every day I wake up I'm thankful. I don't think about specific things because my blessings are so many. They always outweigh anything bad or negative that happens.

I do remember where I was. I was a CNA/Medication tech passing morning meds in the mian dining room of the assisted living facility where I worked at the time and saw what was going on on the big screen TV in the next room. I am thankful that in a few minutes I should be hooked up on the phone for my home fellowship waiting to hear with eargerness what we will learn tonight to help our spiritual growth.

I remember I was in school, at least when I heard the news.
That is a great list of things to be thankful for. I am for family and friends like always.

You're exactly right, so many things we take for granted everyday.
I am thankful for running water, there are places where people have none.
I'm thankful for my appliances, they make my life easier and there are those who have none.
I am thankful to go to the store this morning so we can have food to eat, there are people who are starving and have no means to get food.
I am thankful to put gas into our van, we have money to do so and a van to drive. There are people who have to walk everywhere because they can't afford a car.
