Not a pretty Saturday

When daughter was a toddler my family lived in Northern Idaho for two years. The primitive life. And a life that did not include luxuries like good stove pipe. Fire took our cabin. My thoughts returned to those days this morning as I woke to deeply gray skies. Its not fog. Its fire weather. Folks far from me are undergoing life changing misery right now. God bless those brave souls who battle the fierce flames. God protect the seniors who lost their nursing home. I hope it rains very soon.

Fire. How scary. I can't imagine dealing with that. Glad you made it out safe. I also pray for those folks affected by all the fires.

I pray they get these flames under control really quick. Aren't you fairly close to these awful fires?

@rebelann I am not close to fires. Not sure how many fires are up north of me- maybe a three to four hour drive- then another down south of me and of course the horror going on in Oregon. I guess I am in the middle.

@rebelann Thanks. The cats will be the huge issue. Last time we had to get out I did a horrible job at catching them. Sonny J. hid under my bed and that was that with him. Thank God nothing happened.

I'm so sorry you went through losing your home. I have been praying for cooler temps and a lot of rain; but they are saying that El Nino will bring only more drought.

Fire can kill, people, animals and dreams, yet we need its warmth.

It must be heart-rending for those people battling the fires and for those who have lost their homes and, in some cases, everything they own.
