Who are You?

Sorry I wasn’t here yesterday. Our neighborhood had its yearly block party. I was one of the organizers. With the virus so prevalent, we decided not to meet and share food this year. Instead, neighbors wore masks and walked around our neighborhood while socially distancing and stopped to chat and catch up with each other. Those who didn’t want to walk were able to put lawn chairs at the end of their driveway and chat with those who stopped by. This was a two hour event which stretched into four hours. It was a big hit, and we met some new neighbors. I hope to remember them without their masks! My photo isn’t entirely appropriate, since we have a neighborhood made up of people from many states in the USA . However, it is appropriate in that hubs and I visited our local farm market this morning to load up on fresh produce for the week after tennis.

@piyushbhatia1 I'm sure you do understand. We almost canceled the block party this year, but it is still good to go out and get some fresh air and Vitamin D naturally from the sun. Everyone wore masks and social distanced. We have a great group of neighbors, thank goodness.

We also have two annual meetings with the neighbors. One usually is in October, a chestnuts cookout in front of the farm not far from us, the other the week before Easter. I do not know if we are going to cook the chestnuts on an open fire and distribute this year.

@DianneN I love chestnuts, but I am not going to get anything from the hands of other people, not until the virus is around.

@LadyDuck I feel the same way, especially when there is no sink around for hand washing.

That's so nice that your neighborhood does the same thing. I wouldn't think it would be a good idea to have any food this time of year unless the virus is completely wiped out by October.

Nice way to celebrate. Everybody should understand the importance of celebration the way you did and this pandemic will disappear in no time.

@DianneN Yes that is true. People are still taking it lightly and that helps its spread like wild fire.

Thank you! It's a shame that more people don't. It's the only way to stop this virus from killing so many.

I'm glad it was a big hit. I'm glad you met new neighbors. It's good you loaded up on fresh produce. Fresh is best, though I also eat a lot of frozen.

In my opinion that event was needed and even more at this time. I bet many people felt relieved to go out and try to socialize even if it was from the distance. Hope you had a good time Dianne!

Thanks! We all had a good time it seems. Our neighborhood is very quiet with homes spread out, so we don't get to see many people unless they are out in their yards working.

That sounds like a nice event. We always talk to neighbors when we go for our walks every day. A nice way to get to know people that live around you. Of course no walks for a week because of the smoke in the air.

That's a very thoughtful way of celebrating. And this year block party in neighborhood is definitely a wonderful way to meet and know neighbors. Good that pandemic is not able to break our spirit and we find ways to stay safe, live life and celebrateHopefully this pandemic should end soon.
