In India we prepare Chicken Pickle! It is prepared in different states and the taste of this pickle varies from state to state! The pickle is added with different spices and prepared like curry and preserved in the oil! This is an addictive product and I relish it a lot! Have you ever tasted the Chicken Pickle?

I have heard of it. Now I am a vegetarian but for the short duration in my life when I tried non veg foods, I didn't try this one. But from your description it sounds delicious and a relished dish for chicken lovers. My husband makes chicken achari at times and my daughters love that.

@AKRao24 And it must be dried well to increase the shelf life. So should not be juicy like the fresh chicken achari.

This is a pickle that is consumed along with the rice and other things in a small quantity to enhance the taste! The shelf life is about 4 months , so the people store it in the fridge and use it when required!

It's not something I've ever had. It's interesting how different regions have their own versions.

India is a peninsula and we get lot of fresh marine fish and fresh water fish! Despite that people love to have salted fish and dried fish! Apart from these they also like to have Fish pickle too! This is also commercially available in the market!

I have not. It does not sound particularly appetizing the way you describe it. But of course I have never had it so I cannot knock it.

Yes! I can understand what you want to say! In India when we say pickle it is too spicy and is it is preserved in the oil! In other countries I believe the pickle means the contents are preserved in brine! That is why the Indian pickles may not be appreciated by the people who are habituated of having the latter type of pickles!

@AKRao24 I have eaten many pickled things. Chicken just simply does not sound appealing to me. But to each his or her own. It's a strange thing for me in any event. I have never been a fan of Indian food in general.

Because it is prepared from the Chicken and that can be preserved like any other pickle for a considerable length of time this is named so!

Yes! We all have those pickles! Since this pickle is something different I deliberately put it here for the discussion!
