Tell me that I made a big mistake

It's been awhile that my daughter told me that her 1st cousin barely talks to her and that hurts me. Today my older sister called to catch up because as I have mentioned before, she has a son with Down Syndrome and he keeps her busy most often times. While we were talking I brought up about her daughter, same age with my daughter and told her that it hurts me knowing that her daughter doesn't talk much to my daughter whenever they are given the chance to talk to each other. I knew I was whispering but for some strange reason my daughter upstairs heard me and looked upset when I called her. Later I found out from her that bringing up that matter with my older sister embarrassed her. I thought that would make her feel that I am on her side, but I was wrong. I blame myself that my daughter is resentful towards me. It's not her fault that she's like this because I knew that I am the reason why she's like this. She closed the door on me and locked herself in her room.
