Insurance kills and Inheritance losses.

After doing a few checks, we are certain that my dad's medical bill can be reimbursed via insurances. It is a good news. At the same time, the next year insurance bill came and we need to pay almost $7,000 dollars for my dad's insurance. It worked out to $2,000 odd dollars per person. I paid upfront ahead as I had saved up my bonuses for it. My sister had put up the suggestion that they should have dual key condo with our parents. However due to the fact that cash upfront is heavy, so my parents will have to sell their house to come up with the first cash installment. As the house is a part of the inheritance, it essentially meant that we had a loss of the inheritance.... Nah, me and my sibling do not felt sad. I felt happy that my parents did take the time to make sure that we understand the complication as this house is taken out of the inheritance. They had given the mutual respect to us by talking to us about it and tell us that they will not proceed if we objected to it instead of acting immediately instead and cut us out directly. On my part, of course I do not have any objection. On my dad's health condition, we are getting second opinion from the head of the oncology. We will see what is his advice before the next step ahead. Since we have the insurance reimbursement, we could go for private hospital which is more costly but it is way quicker.

@marlina I would not care about inheritance, the health is more important.

I hope everything works out for your father. That's a high insurance payment you need to meet. I'm sorry your parents need to sell the house to make everything work.

As long as they are getting taken care of, the selling of the house is not too much of a big deal.

In a way it is even through I dislike the idea of selling the house which I was in for the past 30 years. But having to say that as long as they are been taken care of, I think that it would be the best solution.

Thats a lot of money, but it's worst than having none. I used to pay some insurance but i discounted it and later the insurance company some how went into bankrupcty.

Thank you so much. I do hope and I do think that it could be beaten so long as it does not spread as it is stage 3 and based on my research it is not as aggro as the other cancers.

I'm happy that you can get reimbursement. But sorry about your parent's home. At least there is some clear communication happening though. I would say private hospital a good idea - health is wealth

Absolutely on the private hospital. The queue to the treatment is way shorter and the doctors are way more experience.

I am very sorry about the insurance cost, I to have some of the same problems, Pay 3K per year for insurance one person, and end up with 7K in bills by the end of the year. Really cannot wait for the time when I don't have to worry about this you pay, then you pay again, than finally we might pay something. I don't feel sorry for the greedy insurance companies that do this to people. I wish your father well and a solution to this comes sooner than later.

I know this problem. Getting hospitalized will drain your savings. Everything you have worked hard for will go to the hospital bills. Bu the.way, what's the medical condition of your dad?

It is a chicken and egg thing. Either insurance drain us or the medical fee drain us. Sometimes both. My dad has a stage 3 Prostrate Cancer.
