I was watching some old interviews with Rob Paulsen today. He is a voice actor who has done so many late 80s and 90s cartoons and has such a huge list of cartoon shows and movies to his name. I don't think voice actors get much credit. They usually know how to manipulate their voices to create so many awesome characters. Nowadays it seems most bigger animated movies use big name actors to do voices.
I love that my son is now getting where he finally recognizes voices and faces from movies and will relate it to other movies and shows. My son has always been horrible with names and faces and really placing people but he has gotten a lot better at it. He is amazing at so many things but he is bad when it comes to recognizing people in movies and shows. The last year he has gotten more observant. He has taken to watching Tiny Toons and I'm really excited to truly introduce him to Animaniacs. He's seen bits and pieces here and there but he hasn't watched it a ton.
My son and I are very different in a lot of ways. He can memorize books and has since he was two. He used to recite almost every book we owned but if you asked him what his teacher's name was he would never remember. He does now for the most part but there are still so many people he interacts with that he couldn't tell you who they are half of the time. I on the other hand am usually pretty decent at memorizing names and remembering people. I grew up loving movies and TV shows especially older ones and I'd instantly recognize actors and their voices from show to show and movie to movie at a fairly young age.
My son just isn't that kid. He walks around usually oblivious to who he talks to. He has so many people that know and love him but he barely remembers them. He's nice and friendly to everyone and he'll play with anyone who needs a friend but he doesn't remember their name half of the time. It's just part of his quirkiness I guess. He has gotten better the past year or two now that he's getting older but for a long time he'd have everyone calling his name and I'd ask who it was and he'd have no clue.
Sharing my love of 90s movies and cartoons with him has been fun. I've tried sharing my love of old movies and shows but he isn't really a huge fan. I'll keep trying because sometimes as we get older our interests change. He has started surprising me lately with movies I wouldn't think he'd like and he has loved them so we'll see.

I don't know most of the people who do the voices but I often recognize voices from show to show. My son is pretty much the same way. He enjoys talking to people but couldn't tell you who they were afterward. They all typically know him and he'll smile and wave and act like they're his best friend even though he can't remember their name. He's just a really friendly kid.
