I know I’m posting earlier than usual, but I’m leaving to go walking. There are so many wonderful peeps on myLot that I think of as kind friends, but I’m ashamed to say that some of my friends stump me. I’m not sure if you are male or female given your unusual to me names and avatars that don’t give me a hint. Don’t be surprised if I ask you next time I reply to your post. Does anyone else feel the same as I?

I have been friends with men who turned out to be females for such a long time. Sometimes I can tell by our conversations. Sometimes I can't.

It happens and not only with the new users. I interacted with someone for a long time thinking "he" was a man, I finally discovered I was wrong.

Yes I agree with you. It is difficult to make out from the name and Avatar the member is Male or female. Only when they make reference to their husband or wife through their posts we come to know their gender.

That's usually the way. To be honest, the ms in your name confused me for a long time. I thought you were using the Ms. abbreviation. Now I know better.

I never understood why people have anything other than a photo of themselves in the profile pic. That's what the profile pic is for. You are not a cat, or a dog, or a baby, or a planet, etc. No reason to hide yourself. Also, some use a pen name instead of the real name. That is okay, however, sometimes we can't tell who the person is, especially if the picture is not of that person. There were people I've talked to I thought were guys but they turned out to be female. Sometimes I am not sure who I am talking to but it doesn't feel right to ask if the person is male or female, maybe even rude.

I can imagine that. Yes maybe it is disturbing. I try to understand the gender from the post and when we have a talk. But off course it is difficult for the new friend. Eem... for the profile picture maybe they are too shy to show it. Just like me . By the way... thanks God, the name that was given to me is also common name at the world so i am recognized easily . Anyway you are so kind, caring about the gender of us

Knowing who we are communicating with makes if easier. I have been friend with men who turned out to be women. Your name gives you away. I knew instantly that you are a female.
