This post is inspired by the post from myklj999 who is going for stress test tomorrow as per his recent post. I underwent a stress test last year and thought of sharing with you the circumstances under which this test had to be done, as it is very interesting. I am prone to panic attack which is mostly based on fake beliefs like fear of heart attack or something similar. Last year I had to visit the hospital twice in one week thinking that I have got an heart attack. On reaching hospital they will check blood pressure and find that the pressure is low, they will immediately perform the ECG and find out that everything is normal. Blood pressure also come out normal when taken again. This happened twice in one week then my doctor, who incidentally is my very good friend, said that we shall confirm your doubts by undertaking stress test. It was performed in 2 days time and doctor declared that there is nothing wrong with your heart only body is unfit. You have to improve your fitness and advised me to take a brisk walk regularly as walking is the best cardio vascular exercise. From that time onwards my regular walking started. Have you experienced such fake panic attack any time?

ECG is confirmation of heart problem but many times it is proved that we can't solely depend on that test. It gives the condition of the heart at that particular time. While you can't ignore the pain of whatever sort near your heart, it is also not good to worry about it all the times.

I'm glad that everything is fine with you, afterall, and walking will help you get fit. I'm not prone to panic attacks, but a friend of mine had them and was immobilized by them.

You are made to run or walk on a tread mill and your heart performance is monitored under the supervision of heart specialist. Your walking/running speed is increased gradually and that confirms how strong your heart is.

Sorry to hear that. As long as you are physically fit these attacks are a burden and not called for. Some people tend to ignore genuine physical problems and don't react to them. That is also not good.

A panic attack means your body reacts to your thoughts and instantly your pressure goes down and you sweat all over. Just thinking that something is wrong with you is not panic attack.
