Good day to you all, I got a weird story for you all. I just stepped outside to smoke a cigarette when I realized that my lighters birthday is coming up. Yes, my lighter. I bought this Zippo lighter on Oct 3rd 1987 the day after I got out of Bootcamp for the Marine Corps. This lighter has been through it all with me. It has traveled around the world with me. It has seen more things than most people I know. It has been there with me through the good and the bad. It has lighted my way when I need to see, has helped keep me warm when I was cold, it has helped me relax when I went to sleep, and kick started my day with me. It stuck with me through two divorces and was there at my side raising three kids. It has seen the good and bad in me and never turned its back on me. It seen me as a drunk and seen me though to being sober. It has seen me at my best and at my worse and never failed to support me. For 33 years at my side, never letting me down, never judging me, just being reliable and dependable.

You will need to preserve that when, and if, it gives up one day and says enough is enough.

@Bensen32 That's amazing. I wonder if there are others out there that have been going as long.

@JudyEv I'm sure there has to be. Zippo's are an amazing product that is well built and last a long time. I know one of my uncles had one that he got in the late 60's sometime and well when he passed in 2000 he still used it.

When I met my husband (50 years ago) he was "learning" to smoke a pipe. I thought that a nice Zippo lighter would have been a nice gift. The Zippo still works and I use it to light candles, as my husband finally never liked smoking.

I love this lighter. My kids joke with me now and then that I love the lighter like it's another one of my kids. LOL
