A lot of students in my country, are asking for academic freeze. That is because online schooling is very hard to achieve effectively due to expensive mobile data and unstable internet connection. A lot of students don't have gadgets for that as well.
Although they offer modular learning, where student will be given learning materials which means that the students will have to study by themselves, or that their parents will guide them. The problem is, not all parents are knowledgeable to teach their child. And if that's the case, the students are forced to self-study for them to learn.
What are your thoughts about this?

Ain't it a bit too late to ask for an academic freeze since the academic year started already?
Anyway, I understand the sentiments of those who wanted to postpone the school year this year. They raised valid points.
Was actually part of a group with college friends and classmates who pooled resources to support deserving but poor students in one high school where my college friend is currently teaching. We were able to pool enough funds to support at least 200 students for their needs in modular learning.

@mochang I know public schools start October 5.
Other schools started already so what happens to their students if we have an academic freeze?

@allen0187 though I'm not sure about that now, still it's not as if it was suggested/requested only this time. They chose to not listen before the school even started and now, students and teachers are suffering.

if there is no organization I see it very hard, in fact it is precisely the educational organization that makes online education perfectly in line with the classic standard teaching, I repeat you must organize yourself otherwise they will find themselves in difficulty

@mochang in fact it is a problem even here in Italy there have been similar problems but we have solved it immediately because we cannot stay behind with our studies and above all because in Italy we study all the languages ??of the world here in Italy we study a lot so we organize ourselves as much as possible.

In my opinion there should be new ways of studying these days. I just think that schools should remain closed for the rest of 2020.

They can be forced to study and not forced to learn

@mochang I think our country should really stop the online classes thing .One reason is that alot of Filipino students are not used to attending online classes. Take for example what happened to my niece's schedule , some of her teacher are having a bad time connecting to the internet. The website they are using keeps on crashing .And some parents are not used to the computer itself. Those are some of the problems encountered.

I feel you. I face the exact same problem. Well, I am actually a teacher, and as a teacher, I feel that this kinda teaching and learning process is ineffective. My students feel incomplete while trying to understand the material because explaining the material directly and by daring is totally different. It's harder to understand

Both my kids are having online classes already. For the older kids, it is manageable. For bv the younger ones, it is very tricky. The teachers/school need to create a good plan and implementation.
As for the public school, teachers should really look through the materials they are going to give to the student. Those learning materials will be their key to a better understanding.
If there will be a academic freeze, what will the children do everyday? For those without gadgets, I'm sure they must be doing something to pass time. For those with gadgets, I'm pretty sure they will also be in their gadgets most of the time.

@mochang: our country has a lot of similarities in telecommunication infrasctructures it seems. The other problem is character building also , which is difficult to do online, because it requires exemplary teachers, not online modules.
