Did I forget to post about my Very Cool Birthday Present?

I mentioned in a previous post that I received a really cool birthday present, but I think I forgot to "reveal" what that present was. Some of you guessed it.
It snowed all day on my birthday (September 7) up at the cabin in Montana. The snow varied across the day from delicate flurries to a light blizzard.
It was cold enough that the snow stuck through the next day. Needless to say, my wood stove was busy.
My waterproof boots proved not to be, so I gave up on wearing socks on my birthday. Have you gotten birthday presents from Mother Nature? Do you have "early snows" where you live?

That really was a "cool" surprise. Some winters we don't even get snow.

@TheHorse You never know what the weather's going to do. We seldom have snow, but we've actually had snow in April before.

@1creekgirl I wish we had snow at my elevation. But we can hike to it on a handful of Winter days. I'll see if I can find a picture of me and one of my buddies (a client, technically) up in the snow on Mt. Diablo.

Thanks, Judy. Do you have ANY snows there? I sense that your latitude and climate are about like mine (Montana is Northeast of California, but you probably knew that.) Here in almost-Coastal California, we have snow on Mt. Diablo above maybe 2500 ft a couple of times per Winter. But I live in the "valley." Are there mountains near where you live?

@TheHorse We have very few mountains. The highest peak is Mount Meharry in Karijini National Park where we're going in a few weeks. It is 1,249 metres (4,098 ft) . Bluff Knoll is 1,099 metres (3,606 ft) above sea level and well south of us. It occasionally gets snow which is rare enough to be newsworthy.
As a country, Australia gets more snow than Switzerland which always amazes me. We have snowfields, etc but they are all in the eastern states.
At school, we were taught we had a Mediterranean climate and generally similar to California - mild, wet winters and hot, dry summers.

That is right, you do not have snow in California, yes or no? I bet that was a treat for you. I grew up with so much snow and we had snow in winter at times in Jerusalem and I hated it. The only time here it was ok was when I had my dog and she loved to play in it.

@TheHorse When I lived in Richmond, BC (an island in the Fraser River immediately south of Vancouver) we were actually below sea level. Snow was a one day a year occurance.

We have a lot of snow here in Florida, but you more affectionately know it as "beach sand." haha

@TheHorse You certainly wouldn't want to touch your bare feet on our dry beach sand, that sh*t is hot as a mo-fo.

Happy Belated Birthday, to You! Sockless feet on your Birthday? Yah, I guess that acceptable:) We usually get snow, around the first week of November. This year, it will probably be here earlier! We're cold

Happy Belated Birthday. I'm glad you liked your present. I hate s**w and would have returned it! :-) We have been having glorious weather the past couple of weeks. 60s and 70s, low humidity and no rain. The earliest we get s**w is usually around the first week in November. Brrrrr!

We don't have it at my elevation in Coastal California. But our Mt. Diablo gets some occasionally. When I'm up in Montana (usually in August) I always wonder what it would like to be up there in Winter, so this was a perfect birthday present for me.
