Happy Fridianne Day! I haven’t been around here much due to all kinds of exciting things going on. I am way behind on my 300 notifications and feel overwhelmed. I will do my best to catch-up.
The most exciting thing of all is that our Ice Princess competed in her first Juvenile level of the U.S. Figure Skating competition yesterday in Boston and blew her coach’s mind with her performance including technical and artistic skills for a newbie.
From what I know the levels are:
Pre-preliminary
Preliminary
Pre-juvenile
Juvenile
Intermediate
Novice
Junior
Senior
Only one skater was allowed in the building at a time. Temperatures were taken. All 9 judges, technical personnel, videographers, cameramen, and coaches had to wear masks. Skaters had to leave the building immediately after their skate, and no parents were allowed in to watch.
Now that the Ice Princess is a Juvenile, she is judged on points. The scores were emailed to the parents.
We are so proud of all her hard work and her beautiful new costume made for her in Israel. A shout out to my Facebook friends who have watched her growth over the years!

@lovebuglena Aww, she's just 12 years old, but she would love to make Nationals at least. She represented the state of NY in Michigan a few years ago.

Great going for your Ice Princess!! Apologies accepted. Yet you need to bring in regular posts to keep us fully entertained, and there should not be any compromise in the fun and entertainment levels!!

I have always found your posts entertaining, and of Horse as well, though as the unofficial Indian Prez, he needs guidance at times.
I think someone ought to get him some Hindi lessons.

He comes up with something witty and funny from time to time. Yet to his relief, Vanny has been out of action here due to Data network issues and he has been spared from leg pulling.

Here I am to add to your notifications ,
That's great she skated VERY well ! Honestly, I don't even know how they score these things anymore . . . so complex. Wow, there's certainly seems to be a protocol for these competitions - but good so it keeps everyone safe. You must be so proud of her - and so am I!!!!!

I don't understand the scoring. I thought you would.. I certainly hope she does. I read that they had technical judges - 3 - to watch the skate edges and heaven knows what else. It reminds me of the Olympics where the skaters sit waiting to hear their points.. I am so grateful for the safety protocols. You know I worry so much.

@DianneN I haven't really kept up with "real" skating to figure out the scoring. I do know a lot of people think it's sort of unfair and making skaters be like technical robots (packing in programs with loads of "tricks") . . . it's not emphasizing the artistry in skating enough I guess. All I know is I like (or don't like) what I see . Yes, the kiss and cry area where people await their scores. Hopefully everyone is remaining safe while enjoying what they love to do !
