Day 52
Promise 510
Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
Everything in life has a purpose. We don’t always understand the purpose until it is shown to us with clear understanding.
Jesus appeared to two men on the road to Emmaus and opened the Scriptures to them about Christ’s purpose. When they realized it was Him, He disappeared from their sight and they hurried back to Jerusalem where they heard other stories of Jesus’ resurrection. Suddenly He was in their midst and told them what His life and death meant not only to them, but to the world. He told them to wait until the promise of the Father came upon them.
As Christians, Jesus’ death and resurrection is the key to your salvation. The promise of the Father, the indwelt Holy Spirit is for everyone who accepts Jesus as Savior and Lord. With the Holy Spirit you can bring the gospel of salvation to the world. You no longer need to wait for the promise as the disciples waited until the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came to them and they were able to preach the good news to everyone in Jerusalem.
Acts 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Acts 2 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
Before Jesus left the disciples and returned to heaven, He prepared them for the promise they would need to spread the gospel to the world.
Today, you no longer need to wait, you have the tools necessary to bring God’s message of salvation to the world. You only need to go and be His witness.
Let’s pray: Father, help me be Your witness to the world. Let Your Holy Spirit dwell in me and give me the words to say. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
