Avoiding Religion And Politics.

There are one too many times I have heard people say they avoid discussions about religion and politics. I do not understand why. One's conviction defines a person. If one does not fight for the truth about religion and politics, there's not much sense conversing. It will be dull and unintelligent. I hope you do not veer away from religion and politics.

I discuss what people want to discuss, religion and politics included. If they do not want to discuss those topics, fine by me.

I answer whichever I want to and do not avoid voicing my thoughts if I feel like it.

@LadyDuck The subject referred to in the "dull and unintelligent' is the conversation, not the person. Please read the line again.

FREEDOM! We read and answer what we like and we are not dull or unintelligent for doing this.

Well these two topics can be as hot that it can go down to being personally attacked because of the complexity of the history, cultural implications it has. l have qualms joining in one but when the discussion does get heated and becomes personal already l avoid it anymore since it becomes unhealthy already.

@eileenleyva True that becomes ugly many times when both sides do not want to give up. l can understand that on religious topics but on political it really makes it very ugly. l do participate in political discussions up to the point where it is discussed in intellectually but l avoid when everyone throws up to everyone.

@rsa101 You are right, partisan politics is reprehensible. A tribe tends to idolize a popular local figure and believe him hook, line, and sinker, even if he is a murderer. Very ugly indeed. Politics is for the welfare of the people, not the people serving a figure. On topics about religion, always stay factual.

That's the cheap shot the foolish use to put down another. That is because they couldn't argue any longer. Don't be discouraged by these foolish people. Those who tell you it's not in the Bible have not even read the Bible entirely. Those who talk politics have not even been to the grassroots. We have the edge, brother, because we know our religion and our politics.

So are you saying that people who don't talk about religion and politics must be dull and unintelligent? Or are you saying that the conversations will be dull and unintelligent if they don't include politics and religion? Believe me, I have attempted conversations about religion and politics with people who are dull and unintelligent, and had some very dull conversations even with intelligent people. Personally, I prefer to talk about other interests but don't necessarily avoid particular topics. Saying that, I do avoid certain topics with certain people. If I know I can have an intelligent discussion, I'll gladly converse about anything. If, however, I know that the other participants have no intention (or ability) to actually converse, there isn't a lot of point. Unfortunately, there are plenty of people unwilling to accept another point of view or who can't differentiate between discussion/debate and argument.

Are you kidding? remember that discussions we had way back 2010 elections those were so terrible that I never wanted to get involve ever again. Anyways, so as religion because I've seen people get nasty with religious discussions, even before face book. I rather talk about what ever i do every day regardless how boring it is.

A decade after, you must have learned and discovered the truth about religion, and the good and bad in politics. The study would have guided you in your principles in life, enhanced your being, and enable you to defend the true and the right. Every day stuff is okay but too much dosage of the ordinary renders one shallow and dull. Level up.

I don't see anything wrong talking about those things! Besides we agree to disagree right?

I agree with your first sentence. But not with the second interrogative sentence. I don't agree to disagree. I always seek for a point of agreement.
