National Day hugs the Mid-Autumn Festival

China
October 1, 2020 6:43am CST
Today is the seventy-first birthday of New China and our traditional festival-the Mid-Autumn Festival .The next time both festivals coincide will be the year 2031. Two holidays are statutory holiday here. People in work take 8 days off work (including Saturday and Sunday ),so many have planed their trip and their family reunion, which brings travel rush second only to the Spring Festival's. There will be evening Gala on CCTV tonight where many stars of stage and screen will appear. It is a real feast for the whole nation.

Wow, two festivals at the same time ! I guess since I am late, I should ask how "was" it? Did you also have a family reunion? I am sure there were special foods prepared and feasted on there. Are things pretty much back to normal now as people are traveling again? That is certainly something to celebrate . . . oh gosh, our country seems to be far, far off from any of that. I hope you and your family enjoyed all of the double traditional festivities!

@changjiangzhibin89 How wonderful! I know I could get moon cakes here . . . I should see if the bakery still has them (it usually sells for half the month). I am so glad to the virus is controlled over there. This was a very interesting read!

@changjiangzhibin89 They will keep selling the moon cakes here until they are gone. Do you make your own? I know I can get the ingredients, but I don't know if I can locally get the pan that it should be made in to make the fancy patterns on the outside. I guess even if things are pretty clear with the rest of the world, everyone must stay cautious. With all the borders opening up, it is possible for the spread to happen again. We are not even in an "again" situation . . . we are still in the original situation. Is it getting colder where you are? Here it is still very much like summer, although we had a couple cool days here.

@much2say Over here, there was a great run on moon cakes during two festivals,I guess so did there, seeing as there are many Chinese over there.Though we have kept the virus controlled, we are all cautious ,especially the weather turns cold.

@rebelann I don't make any travel this time.I think the link below may help.
China is on the move again. As October 1 arrives, hundreds of millions of people are expected to pack highways, trains and planes for the National Day holiday, one of the busiest times for travel in the world's most populous country.

Family and food. Two things we usually have for our November holiday of Thanksgiving. Most people are missing it this year.

@changjiangzhibin89 I am doing well, the family is safe and healthy and when it looks like our finances will turn bad, something comes up that brings us through. I know for a fact that since this started back in march that G-d has taken care of us, because we were struggling, so any lack of income could be our downfall, but He's kept us going.
